Follow-up Comment #1:
Confirmed. There is really no reason to be so strict about the row or column
orientation of the weighting vector V, as long as it has n elements which
matches the number of rows in A. I made that change here
http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/bccb203494f6. This is on the
development branch of Octave so it will be a part of the 4.4.0 release of
Octave. Of course, this is just an m-file so you can download it from
Mercurial sources and install it if you want to see the effect of the change.
