Follow-up Comment #35, bug #49053 (project octave):

I don't think a HiDPI monitor is important. I don't even know that this
problem will rear its ugly head on any machine other than a Mac because of how
they conflate DPI and screen scaling. I just wanted to make sure the proposed
patch doesn't cause problems for the QT4 folks on Linux or the QT5 on Linux
and Windows.

I will also go back and fix those casts and update the patch.
