Follow-up Comment #1, bug #52974 (project octave):

I think we had this discussion some time ago and this is when the idea to use
svg instead of postscript as an intermediate format
came about. The gl2ps limitation is that it cannot embedd fonts
(i.e. does not include font description), but perhaps we could pipe its output
to ghostscript.
