As to the last Q ("BTW") in comment #5:
see attached pic #1, Matlab isn't so smart.
I think that editing char arrays wouldn't be needed. I suppose that type
isn't used very often.
As to strings, they behave just like char vectors ("sq_string"), see pic #2.
