Follow-up Comment #20:
Marking as "In Progress".
1) The issue of this patch not working when JAVA_HOME is undefined needs to be
resolved.
2) Documentation should be added to section A4.3 describing how to take
advantage of this new feature.
3) If it is not too cumbersome, it would be nice to support Java8 and older on
non-x86 machines. However, I don't use such systems so this might be left as
an exercise for someone who is affected and motivated enough to provide a
patch.
4) My preference is that selection should fail when JAVA_HOME points to a
non-existent directory.
