Follow-up Comment #6, bug #54490 (project octave):
I came across something similar in the past and noticed that Matlab changed
its behavior. The code below runs fine in Matlab before R2015b and Octave but
crashes with any more recent Matlab:
function test_order_evaluation
global idx;
idx = 0;
A{idx} = fcn ('foo');
function val = fcn (val)
global idx
idx = idx + 1;
