Follow-up Comment #5:
I had to refresh the patch, but I was able to get it to apply to the current
development branch. I also updated the BIST tests to use tempname rather than
hard-coded filenames. See this cset
(https://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/8644e7df7fc7). It doesn't seem
to upset anything according to 'make check' so I am marking this as fixed and
closing the report.
