I pushed the following changeset:

It seems to work for me. We may want to reorganize this a bit. Maybe shg
should replace __show_figure__ as a built-in function that takes an optional
argument? Or, maybe shg should just call figure (gcf ())? I'm not sure what
organization is best here.
