So with clang compiled binary I get correct (?) results:
octave:4> (intmin('int64') - 1)
ans = -9223372036854775808
octave:5> (intmin('int64') - 2)
ans = -9223372036854775808
octave:6> (intmin('int64') - 3)
ans = -9223372036854775808
octave:7> intmin ('int64') - int64 (1)
ans = -9223372036854775808
octave:8> intmin ('int64') - int64 (2)
ans = -9223372036854775808
octave:9> intmin ('int64') - int64 (3)
ans = -9223372036854775808
octave:10> __octave_config_info__ ("hg_id")
ans = 8b548f2f8086
octave:11>
octave:11> __octave_config_info__ ("CC")
ans = clang
clang version 6.0.1 (tags/RELEASE_601/final)
