Follow-up Comment #16, bug #54622 (project octave):

Of course I may have to take that comment back somewhat - changing it to fid =
fopen (fn, "wt"), it fails even without having to run the test suite. 

File size of an extra character bigger at that point though, which was not
happening on the previously failing files
