Follow-up Comment #5, bug #54662 (project octave):
Did you try running octave-cli.exe or octave.exe?
The octave-cli.exe program is not supposed to be linked with Qt, so I think it
could still work if it is the Qt5 libraries that don't work with Windows XP.
