Follow-up Comment #21, bug #54672 (project octave):
Well, what confused me is the xterms ran correctly
with the vi setting as did everything else except
Octave. Therefore, I took an interest in Octave.
Of course, I did not understand all of the vi implications,
but vi itself worked, too.
