Follow-up Comment #10, bug #54718 (project octave):
My guess is that the unwind_protect code works properly, but that a chdir
command queued for the GUI synchronization thing is executed after that. On
my system, the queued command must be running before the unwind_protect code,
at least in the cases I've observed.
