Follow-up Comment #11, bug #54720 (project octave):

@gilo: I have a few other interrogations. 
* If you run your original example in Matlab from a script is the msgbox
created until the dialog is closed? If so is it above or below the dialog? 
* Same questions if you replace the msgbox by a simple non modal figure.
