Follow-up Comment #7:

I changed the underlying msgbox.m function to have a "keypress" callback that
closes the window when <RETURN> is pressed.  Since the XXXdlg functions are
built on top of msgbox they now do the correct thing.

Marking bug as fixed and closing report.
