Follow-up Comment #13, bug #55046 (project octave):
I think it would be a good idea to catch these issues at compile time.
Expanding on what jwe said, there are already three examples of using compiler
attributes in octave-config.h. See OCTAVE_DEPRECATED, OCTAVE_NORETURN,
OCTAVE_UNUSED.
The file octave-config.h is generated by the file
build-aux/mk-octave-config-h.sh. That is where the macro needs to be added.
