I have pushed changeset
http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/22edc076543e
with restoring line and column when reloading an externally changed file.

This workaround is the only thing we can do here without losing of the ability
of keeping track of external changes. I am therefore closing the report.
