Follow-up Comment #5:
Thank you both for testing. I attached an updated version of the patch. Axes
ticks and labels are now placed pretty much the same way as before, except
that the offset for tick labels is based on the fontsize (so that ticks don't
overlap at the origin even with large fonts).
