Follow-up Comment #5, bug #55048 (project octave):

The subpanes look the same on my system. In contrast to the dock widgets of
Octave's main window, the variable subpanes are ordinary Qt dock widgets which
do not have any window decoration. This is intended in order to have a clear
"hierarchy" between the main dock widgets and their subwidgets, if exisiting.
