Follow-up Comment #23, bug #43651 (project octave):

Thank you for hints to work around this problem.

But my EXPECTATION would be that (all) special characters can be used in plots
just straight away. (as for example in my comment #0). Without the need to
specify any special font. 

This also works fine in Matlab. (more precise: my expectation is that all
special characters that simply work in Matlab, should also work in Octave.)
