Hi, 

The font was the problem! It was on address@hidden and very hazy. 

I switched to address@hidden and it's great now. 

I am running it on MAC OS and downloaded the pre-made dmg bundle file, since
it was less of a trial to install. 

There are no instructions on https://wiki.octave.org/Octave_for_macOS on how
to go about upgrading. 

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
