Follow-up Comment #30, bug #42136 (project octave):
Your screengrab looks almost exactly like mine, good.
The important bug is the diagonal lines missing. If you didn't look at the
files in a different terminal or text editor you may not have even noticed,
but 's2' is supposed to be "sqrt(sin(x/2))", the line drawing that makes up
the V-shaped part of the square root sign is completely invisible in
qterminal.
