@Rik comment #18:  This would be a great first step inserting the fraction of
packajoozle that speeds up things, if the long term goal of replacements takes
longer than Octave 6.0.

Regarding comment #21: Those changes have to be done at 
https://sourceforge.net/p/octave/project-web/ci/default/tree/.  Mike are you
able to push changes there and familiar with that project Oliver created last
year?
