Follow-up Comment #1:

Confirmed that this is a problem.  I fixed this here
(https://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/1e5dde93eb26) on the stable
branch.  It will be a part of the next bug fix minor release (5.2.0).
