Details:
The Octave system() function doesn't work like MATLAB. [FN1]
[status,result] = system('gobble-de-gook');
In Octave the underlying system error gets printed and result is an empty
char.
In MATLAB, there's no output to the command line and the system error is
stuffed into result.

[FN1] At least on M$ Windows 7 SP1, Octave 5.1.0, and MATLAB 2012a.
