Follow-up Comment #2:

Confirmed.  I ran the example from comment #0 on the development branch and
can easily reproduce the segfault.  Interestingly, in past versions of Octave
this has always led to an error, but not always to a segfault.  In 3.4.3 the
interpreter generates the message


error: Quote command returned error


but returns to the Octave prompt.
