Follow-up Comment #13, bug #57664 (project octave):

Just after posting my previous comment, I found that the PowerShell *does*
allow forward slashes:

PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> cd
Microsoft.PowerShell.Core\FileSystem:://SERVER/share/test
PS Microsoft.PowerShell.Core\FileSystem::\\SERVER\share\test>
