Follow-up Comment #12, bug #57439 (project octave):
So this is the opposite of what I suggested in bug #57664.
Do we really want to alter the definition of canonicalize_file_name in this
manner? I don't use Windows so it doesn't affect me, but it seems really
counter to the entire stated purpose of this function.
