Follow-up Comment #4, bug #58109 (project octave):

I can reproduce this issue.
I'm on Ubuntu 19.04 with Octave 6.0.0 build from commit 27910:543520386e1e.

After switching focus to Firefox and back to Octave pressing one of
alt,shift,ctrl deletes the selected text.
