Follow-up Comment #54, bug #57635 (project octave):
Going back to Qt < 15.3.1 is also an option?
In mxe-octave Qt was updated to 15.3.1 on Sept. 6 last year:

In comment #38 I noted that this bug starting to hit me between 16 and 23
Sept. last year, and taking into account that I update mxe-octave dependencies
only every few weeks this all fits together quite well.
@Torsten:
Is it worthwile to try to work around this upstream bug?
The file log for mxe-octave's qtbase.mk is here:

so for windows using with a 10 months old Qt release wouldn't hurt.
Shall I try to make a cross-build using Qt 5.13.0 ?
