Follow-up Comment #1, bug #58306 (project octave):

Your error seems to be triggered by the parser encountering a whole-line
comment. Bug #58198 might be relevant.

Could you see if the same error happens without a whole-line comment? If not,
then the lexer/parser fix should hopefully fix this behavior as well.
