Follow-up Comment #36, bug #58323 (project octave):

Imho, the changes made in this bug resolve the original issue.
Not sure if the majority will like the additional lines surrounding F9-ed code
because it might clutter the history. But like I already wrote, I can live
with them.

Bug #58370 looks promising to improve the user experience further. No need to
have a "Copy selection to console" feature imho if that change should be
accepted. Instead it might make sense to use that feature for yet another
replacement of the current F9 code. But that is probably better handled in a
new bug report.
