Follow-up Comment #1:
Confirmed. This is a regression from 5.2. The behavior is the same on the
development branch as well.
The second part is interesting. To be clear, the output value is incorrect
when assigned to the default variable ("ans"). But is correct if there is an
actual assignment to a variable.
