Follow-up Comment #23, bug #58795 (project octave):
Sounds like a good test of our current working assumption.
To give you a starting point for a native Linux build with MXE Octave (I don't
remember if I sent that before), the buildbot configuration uses switches
similar to these:
./configure --with-pkg-dir=../mxe-octave-pkg --with-ccache
--enable-octave=default --enable-binary-packages --enable-native-build
--enable-qt5 --enable-lib64-directory --enable-pic-flag --disable-devel-tools
--enable-system-x11-libs --enable-system-fontconfig --enable-system-gcc
gnu-linux
For a test, you could add "--disable-64" (and don't use the patch you provided
here).
