Follow-up Comment #14, bug #49503 (project octave):

One issue I haven't seen discussed is that the package builds that are using
Octave for configuration info aren't really properly set up for cross
compiling.  Running Octave on the build system to determine what features will
be available in the cross compiled version won't always provide the correct
answer.
