@Anne: Your change makes things look better.  It's still not identical to the
output when using qt as the graphics toolkit, but it is better.

Do you want to be credited for this patch?  We use a name and an e-mail
address so if there are any problems we can eventually contact the original
coder.  Otherwise, I can check it in under my credentials.
