Follow-up Comment #14, bug #54444 (project octave):

Right; it's more a problem for sysadmins running their own instance of Octave
Online Server. Several Octave processes get spawned, but extra care is
required to clean them up, since a simple SIGTERM is insufficient. Web users
don't see this.
