Follow-up Comment #41, bug #49503 (project octave):
The attached changeset makes the buildbot adjustments outlined in comment
#40.
I hope I got this right as I have no means of testing.
If jwe agrees that it would be ok to make those or similar changes on his
buildbots, we could make the change John D proposed in comment #38 without
breaking them.
