So it looks like the "single precision difference" idea was a red herring.
I wonder what the real limiting factor is here...
The problem with the last command you showed is the long standing bug #32980.
It might be that solving that bug - which in itself is probably quite a large
project - would relax the error condition for the bug here...
It is nice to read that you are making some progress on understanding the
transformations. Unfortunately, I don't know if there is any kind of
documentation apart from what is in the code.
