Follow-up Comment #69:
Adding the expanded behavior to operate on char arrays was not as simple as
expected. I checked in a change which does that here:
http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/7dcc4cb6da53. I also re-wrote
some of the existing strrep to be clearer.
Marking bug as fixed and closing report.
