Follow-up Comment #23, bug #59173 (project octave):
I couldn't get the control package to compile using LDFLAGS with that change
alone. Instead, I had to change the order in which mkoctfile passes flags (see
the attached patch).
So it looks like LDFLAGS cannot be used like implemented in Octave 5. In that
case, we should fix that for Octave 6 and have LFLAGS deprecated for at least
another two versions, imho.
