Follow-up Comment #30, bug #59173 (project octave):
I pushed the initial patches. But the connection to hg.savannah.gnu.org is
very flaky for me atm.
I'll try making the changes for comment #28 later.
The note in NEWS.5 says the following:
- The environment variable used by `mkoctfile` for linker flags is now
`LDFLAGS` rather than `LFLAGS`. `LFLAGS` is deprecated, and a warning
is emitted if is used, but it will continue to work.
Did we plan to never remove LFLAGS?
