Follow-up Comment #19, bug #59228 (project octave): OK, I was finally able to figure out how to link with openmpi on my system but repeatedly running make check doesn't seem to cause the example from comment #14 to fail for me, with or without calling shutdown and deleting the interpreter object. I've run "make check" several hundred times in a loop both ways.
