Follow-up Comment #1, bug #61016 (project octave):
I have increased that "nr of characters before..." setting set to 6 here :-)
So yes I support your request for changing the default value (just a number),
but there is an easy workaround.
What is the philosophy behind setting it to a specific default value?
(My motive is simply that continuing typing on is usually faster than having
to note the popup and take appropriate action. I find the feature only handy
for much longer text strings (> 10 chars), or to inform me that there are
several variables with similar names.)
Another somewhat annoying thing is that this autocompletion feature popup
regularly gets stuck; then it shows just one name after which I can only get
out of the popup by double-clicking that name in the popup (while continuing
typing or pressing some arrow key should work AFAIK). Hard to reproduce
reliably.
