Follow-up Comment #22, bug #61994 (project octave):

Does the attached change eliminate the crash for you?  Or at least make it
less likely?  I'm not saying this is a fix, but I'm wondering whether pausing
execution of the interpreter thread to allow the GUI to finish processing
events will help avoid the crash.
