Follow-up Comment #2, bug #63162 (project octave):

Matlab did not always have anonymous functions to capture additional
parameters and I'm fairly certain that older versions of ode45 in Matlab
accepted extra parameters to pass to user-defined functions.  If that feature
is really no longer present in these functions in Matlab, then we could
consider removing it from Octave as well, but we might want to warn that the
feature is deprecated for a few releases before removing as we try to do for
other interface changes.  FWIW, I was never a big fan of passing extra
parameters this way and it wouldn't bother me personally to just remove the
feature but I also know that users don't like backwardly incompatible
changes.

Do you have a patch (even if preliminary) for this change in Octave?
