Follow-up Comment #2:
I reviewed the patch and attached a revised version along with a diff of the
changes I made. The only consequential change was using "break" instead of
"continue" in the for loop to find a monospace font. It seems to me that as
soon as one good candidate is found then the loop can stop (hence the use of
"break").
