Subject: [Octave-bug-tracker] [bug #63265] rmdir fails to remove directory containing read-only files

Follow-up Comment #24, bug #63265 (project octave):

As I already said, Windows own rmdir will remove folders with r/o files (while
delete on the individual files will error out). 
That's why I was conceivably assuming that some function existed that handled
this (and why matlab doing otherwise gets up my nose now)
The oldest documentation I could find isn't as relatively clear as the new
one, but I timidly believe this isn't really a new behaviour.

And of course take care means to delete indiscriminately if I'm talking about
