Follow-up Comment #18, bug #55765 (project octave):

@Philip: IIUC, the matgeom package was originally targeting Matlab. That
probably means that shadowing that function there could also lead to
unexpected results.
It might be worth asking upstream if they would like to avoid shadowing that
function for both programs (Octave and Matlab).
