Follow-up Comment #15, bug #63462 (project octave):

If working in a build directory, you must use "run-octave" script.  

However, it might be easier to do "make install" and test that binary itself
by using "/path/to/binary/octave".  Also "ldd" will run correctly on the
installed binary, but not on the file "src/.libs/octave-cli".  To run "ldd" in
the build directory would require 


./libtool --mode=execute ldd src/octave-cli
